Craig Newman

craignewmanThe Erie Express are happy to announce the return of All-Pro OL/DL-Craig Newman (Frewsburg, HS (NY) for the 2016 season. Craig begins his second season with the Express and will compete for a starting spot on the offensive or defensive line.

In his first season with the Express Newman contributed in all three phases of the game. Craig recorded 12 tackles, 1 TFL and a sack on defense and on offense helped pave the way for Allen Jones record setting year. Newman also played a key role on special teams.

Craig is a graduate of Frewsburg, HS in New York where he was a four year starter and was twice named 1st Team OL. In addition to football Newman was a standout wrestler for the Bears finishing his career with an impressive 98 win total. Twice being named to the All-Star team, 3 time sectional qualifier, 3 tournament wins (Sr year), four year starter, 2nd at the class tournament and a 3rd place sectional finish.

Craig has played for the Jamestown Chiefs of the NFA the past two seasons. There Newman played just about every position on the offensive and defensive lines and was a two year starter for the Chiefs. Newman was awarded with NFA All-Pro status for his efforts in 2014.
